I'm a natural hair specialist, Master loctician, Kitchen Chemist & African Woman, born in St. Lucia, experiencing this journey called life, and fullfiling my purpose in Dallas, Tx.
...I was 15, going through the most difficult time of my life, thinking of my survival on this island. I knew there was something major that I had to accomplish. A purpose? My calling? Join me on this journey .
Life according to Eyat. I hope you full joy.
Who is Eyat
Eyat is my self given name. This name was chosen based upon the culmination of experiences and information I was able to amass during my African conscious learning years, although one never truly stops learning, this period which spanned all of my twenties gave me the confidence to look at myself and decide what I desired to be called, and the individual whose memory will remain in this physical realm from thence forward.
Eyat, which means sister in Amharic and Kendra, the name my god mother gave me, of British origin means knowing, wise ruler or greatest champion. I have decided to put the two together, making Eyat my first name and Kendra my last.
Why? I am an African woman, I come from the ancient people of the planet, the progenitors of man. I felt it necessary to disassociate with my former slave past, and come into this dispensation as one who "knows" herself.
"I create. I manifest. God dwells
within and through me!."
My Ital Livity
As a African Woman living in the West, I have adopted and incorporated particular tenets of Rastafari into my everyday livity (life). These tenets are the foundation of the woman I have chosen to be. For starters, I maintain a strict vegetarian live-yet. We don't say die-yet as no part one's nutrition should include death habits. As a rule, I consume no meat, no dairy, little salt and no processed sugars (unless I am baking). I have lived a completely vegetarian lifestyle for the last 10 years and do not regret it. I like simple earth grown foods mostly, and dable in certain types fish mostly Tuna and Snapper.
Roots &
Culture
I was born and raised in St. Lucia. I lived there for 19 years before I decided to migrate to the United States.
It is a place I miss so very much. Creating this platform and maintaining a very rootsy lifestyle has helped
ease the pain I sometimes feel when I reminisce on the freedom my youth. Much of who I am stems from
those experiences I had growing up on the island. I've held onto my accent for one, lol. It has caused the
people whom I must interreact with on a daily much intrigue. As not every day the average Texan comes
across a Lucian. I am windows to a world that many would love to look through and I appreciate the
connectivity it forges. My cultural identity is an important factor in my daily life, and this is why I am
dedicating myself to showcasing my culture and heritage through via this platform. Whether you're a
lifelong member of this community or a curious newcomer, I welcome you to join me on this journey.
